Are you a returning guest?
Q: Can I bring my dog/cat/dragon?
A: As much as we'd like to say yes, our insurance agent said it's not a good idea. Sorry.
Q: Can I order my bottles ahead of time and have you hold them for me?
A: Sorry, but this becomes a logistical nightmare. So there is no pre-ordering of bottles. It's first-come, first served. We recommend getting your bottles first, then hang out and enjoy the party.
Q: Where do I park?
Q: Can I bring my kids?
A: We have co-founders and employees that bring their kids every year. In fact, co-founder Brad and Kerri's oldest son was less than a year old when we opened, and they brought him to the event. We certainly welcome you to bring your kids with you. Just remember that it is a alcohol related event, so use your best judgement. We obviously aren't going to be serving anyone underage. The crowd is pretty low-key and not rowdy.
Release: August 2nd 2014 (meadery only release)
Because we felt that releasing a new batch of The Zombies Take Manhattan wasn't enough for you, we are unveiling our newest rum barrel aged mini-series at the upcoming 2014 Summer Mead Fest. The Pirates of the Meadery series, featuring One-Eyed Ian, and The Dread Pirate Paul. (you either get it, or someone will have to explain it to you)
Dread Pirate Paul
Sweet / Still Mead
The Dread Pirate Paul is a special limited run of date mead aged in rum barrels with spices. Only 2 barrels were made, so we don't antipicate this making it far from the meadery, if it leaves at all. If you're a fan of the movie, The Princess Bride you may get the label. Otherwise, I suggest you log in to Netflix or whatever movie subscription site you have and watch it now. I'll wait...
Label Description: Mead. Mead is what bwings us togevah today. It is inconceivable that this mead was made given the hardships the Dread Pirate Paul had to endure; the date pits of despair, the MOUS's (meadmakers of unusual size), and scaling the rum barrels charred in the depths of the fire swamps, stacked as high as the cliffs of insanity. All for true love. Chilled or cellar temp, drink it as you wish.
Sweet / Still Mead
Only 2 barrels made of this new take on an old B. Nektar classic. It's doubtful that this one will make it out of the meadery. Yes, that really is a picture of Ian. Kerri is super awesome at Photoshop.
Label Description: While fleeing from the armada to protect his treasured pineapple mead, One-Eyed Ian booty-trapped the mead with toasted coconut and hid it in a rum barrel. It is rumored that he killed all his men to keep them from getting his treasure. But the map to the rum barrel got out adn the story was told. It was a rocky road, but we managed to overcome his booty traps. Behold the gem that saved the meadery from foreclosure... Not really, but it makes a good story. B. Nektar never says die!
I have to laugh, because I've outsmarted even myself. My enemy, my foe, is a human. In order to conquer the human, I have to learn to think like a human. And, whenever possible, to look like one. I've gotta get inside this guy's skin and crawl around for a few days. Who's the golfer’s ally? His friends. The harmless greenskeeper and the friendly caddy. A varmint will never quit - ever. So you have to fall back on superior intelligence and superior firepower. And that's all she wrote.
Messing with them is like zen, man. It's the reason we get up before the sun even shows its face. It's our game - a ruined fairway here, a twisted ankle there. All designed to get that silly groundskeeper into a strappy shirt at the funny farm. But the real moment - this is the good stuff, so listen close - is that one perfect dig. The one that sits hidden on the green, right next to the cup. You dig that hole juuuuuuust right, and that poor shmuck golfer never knows where his ball went.
It takes guts to dig that hole. Great big gobs of greasy, grimy gopher guts. A varmint needs a good drink if he wants to play for keeps, and this is the one. We start with Tallow honey, of course, the Nektar of the gods. Add in a slice of Four Seasons lemon juice. We give the drink some loft with South Indian black tea, off the luckiest tea trees. Tell you what, my fellow varmint: with this drink cooling our furry brows, those stupid caddies in their dumb shack won't know what hit 'em.
Cinderella story. Outta nowhere. A former meadmaker, now, about to become the Mazer champion. It looks like a mirac... It's in the hole! It's in the hole!!!!
